Shaggy Mane Seeks Filly & Mare Sprint Repeat ARCADIA, Calif. (Jan. 20, 2008) – Shaggy Mane attempts to defend her title in Saturday’s $300,000 Sunshine Millions Filly & Mare Sprint at Santa Anita. Shaggy Mane is by Bertrando, out of the Bel Bolide mare Witchy, was bred by Arnold Family Trust, was foaled at River Edge Farm and is owned by IEAH Stables, Cohen, Cohen, Kwong, et al. She has six wins in 13 starts, earnings of $391,671 and is coming off a seventh in the Oct. 26 Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Sprint. She won this race last year. Lady Gamer is by Game Plan, out of the Far North mare Mariah Reyna, was bred by owners Clark and Janine Hansen and was foaled at Abbott Ranch. She has five wins in 12 starts, earnings of $292,115 and is coming off a win in the Dec. 9 Playa del Rey. Tiz Elemental is by Cee’s Tizzy, out of the Great Commotion mare Blending Element, was bred by Williamson Racing, was foaled at Harris Farms and is owned by Warren Williamson. She has three wins and a second in five starts, earnings of $237,680 and is returning nine months after winning the Melair Stakes. She was second by a nose in the Sunshine Millions Oaks last year. Northern California Yearling Sale graduate More Angels is by Slew of Angels, out of the Falstaff mare Falmora, was bred by and foaled at Madera Thoroughbreds and is owned by Scuderi and Valente. The $10,000 Northern California Yearling Sale graduate has seven wins in 36 starts, earnings of $370,478 and is coming off a second in the Dec. 1 Garland of Roses Handicap at Aqueduct. The highest-rated Florida-bred in the race is Grade I winner Dearest Trickski.
