Memorette Seeking a Milestone in Distaff HALLANDALE, Fla. (Jan. 20, 2008) – Memorette could become a millionaire with a win when she leads a California-bred quartet in Saturday’s $500,000 Sunshine Millions Distaff for fillies and mares at Gulfstream Park. Memorette is by Memo, out of the Shahrastani mare Forever Fondre, was bred by Oak Tree Farm, was foaled Golden Eagle Farm and is owned by Betty Currin. She has four wins in 31 starts, earnings of $836,753 and is coming off a seventh in the Dec. 16 Dahlia. She was second in last year’s Sunshine Millions Filly & Mare Turf and was third in the 2005 Sunshine Millions Oaks. Swiss Current is by Swiss Yodeler, out of the Thunder Gulch mare Brilliant Thunder, was bred by owner Tailwind Racing and was foaled at Pegasus Ranch. She has three wins in 17 starts, earnings of $236,960 and is coming off a sixth in the Dec. 21 Cat’s Cradle. Curiously Sweet is by Mud Route, out of the Pirate’s Bounty mare Ilona, was bred by Milt Policzer, was foaled Magali Farms and is owned by Gary and Cecil Barber off a $40,000 claim. She has four wins in seven starts, earnings of $207,600 and is coming off a three consecutive wins, most recently the Dec. 21 Cat’s Cradle. Night Power is by Benchmark, out of the Native Prospector mare Spirited Carly, was bred by Marty and Pam Wygod, was foaled at River Edge Farm and is owned by Stable H M A. She has four wins in 18 starts, earnings of $68,069 and is coming off a Jan. 8 optional claiming win. The highest-rated Florida-bred in the field is Grade I winner Ginger Punch.
