Sunshine Millions Pre-entries

ARCADIA, Calif. (Jan. 17, 2008) – A total of 136 pre-entries were taken for the January 26 $3.6 million Sunshine Millions VI for California- and Florida-breds, to be held at Santa Anita and Gulfstream Park.

The most popular of the eight races is the $1 million Sunshine Millions Classic, to be run at Santa Anita, which drew 26 pre-entries.

The smallest field figures to be the $500,000 Sunshine Millions Filly & Mare Turf, to be run at Santa Anita, which drew 12 pre-entries.

There are 77 Florida-breds and 59 Cal-breds pre-entered, with 21 Cal-breds prepared to race at Gulfstream Park and 34 Florida-breds prepared to race at Santa Anita.

Three Cal-bred Grade I winners (Bilo, Nashoba’s Key, Georgia Boy) and four Florida-bred Grade I winners (Ginger Punch, Benny the Bull, Dearest, Tasha’s Miracle) are pre-entered. Nashoba’s Key is cross-entered in the Classic and Filly & Mare Turf.

In addition to the Grade I winners, notable Cal-breds include defending champion McCann’s Mojave in the Classic, win machine Somethinaboutlaura in the Distaff and Shaggy Mane in the $300,000 Filly & Mare Sprint.

The post-position draw will be held Sunday.
