Early-bird Noms Released for Sunshine Millions

ARCADIA, Calif. (Dec. 14, 2007) – A total of 382 early-bird nominations were received for Sunshine Millions VI, to be held Jan. 26, 2008 at Santa Anita and Gulfstream Park for horses bred in California and Florida.

The most nominations received were 57 for the $1 million Sunshine Millions Classic at Santa Anita; the fewest received were 29 for the $500,000 Sunshine Millions Distaff at Gulfstream Park. The total is down 15 from last year’s record.

Among the Cal-breds nominated for the $1 million Sunshine Million Classic are Lava Man, McCann’s Mojave, Bold Chieftain, Bilo and the filly Nashoba’s Key. Lava Man also is nominated for the $500,000 Sunshine Millions Turf at Gulfstream Park and the $300,000 Sunshine Millions Sprint at Gulfstream Park.

Nashoba’s Key also is nominated for the $500,000 Sunshine Millions Filly & Mare Turf at Santa Anita along with Somethinaboutlaura and Memorette. Somethinaboutlaura also is nominated for the $500,000 Sunshine Millions Distaff at Gulfstream Park and the $300,000 Filly & Mare Sprint at Santa Anita. Shaggy Mane also is nominated for the Filly & Mare Sprint.
