Cal-bred Quartet in Filly & Mare Sprint

HALLANDALE, Fla. (Jan. 21, 2007) – Gn. Group Meeting, Shaggy Mane, Wee Bit Fancy and The Yellow Sheet will represent California-breds in Saturday’s $300,000 Sunshine Millions Filly & Mare Sprint, presented by the Ocala Stud Farm, at Gulfstream Park.

Gn. Group Meeting is by General Meeting, out of the Nashwan mare Garther the Group and was bred by owners Mr. and Mrs. Larry Williams. She has four wins in 14 starts, earnings of $222,060 and is coming off a win in the Nov. 24 Cat’s Cradle.

Shaggy Mane is by Bertrando, out of the Bel Bolide mare Witchy, was bred by Arnold Family Trust and is owned by IEAH Stables, Robbins and Kwong. She has five wins in eight starts, earnings of $116,483 and is coming off a fifth in the Nov. 24 Cat’s Cradle, having earlier won the W.P. Kyne Handicap.

The Yellow Sheet is by Benchmark, out of the Moscow Ballet mare Yellow Corn and was bred by owner Toby Turrell. She has four wins in 21 starts, earnings of $217,090 and is coming off a fourth in a Dec. 7 optional claimer.

Wee Bit Fancy is by Dominique’s Cat, out of the Bold Laddie mare Wee Fancy, was bred by Mercedes Stable and is owned by Michael Miller. She has three wins in 10 starts, earnings of $87,715 and is coming off a seventh in the Nov. 24 Cat’s Cradle.

The top Florida-bred entrant is Grade I winner Swap Fliparoo.
