Somethinaboutlaura Takes on Take D’Tour

ARCADIA, Calif. (Jan. 21, 2007) – Grade II winner Somethinaboutlaura is the high-ranking entry among seven California-breds seeking Saturday’s $500,000 Sunshine Millions Distaff for fillies and mares, presented by Warren’s Thoroughbreds, at Santa Anita.

The multiple stakes-winning Somethinaboutlaura is by Dance Floor, out of the It’s Freezing mare Crystals of Ice, was bred by Lilley Ranch and is owned by Miller, Sikura, Todaro, et al. She has 10 wins in 20 starts, earnings of $560,770 and is coming off a second in the Dec. 28 Kalookan Queen.

Beneficial Bartok has not raced since finishing second in last year’s Sunshine Millions Filly & Mare Turf. She is by Bartok, out of the Mill Native mare Manila Merci, was bred by Morry Cohen and is owned by 5C Racing Stable. She has five wins in 26 starts and earnings of $396,001.

Del Mar Yearling Sale graduate Dancing General is by General Meeting, out of the Nureyev mare Dance With Shadows, was bred by Betty Mabee and is owned by Stan Fulton. The $32,000 Del Mar purchase has three wins and four seconds in seven starts, earnings of $160,060 and is coming off a second in a Dec. 31 optional claimer.

Getback Time is by Gilded Time, out of the Incinderator mare Shay, was bred by J & L Stable and is owned by Derenzis and Vanderham. She has four wins in 10 starts, earnings of $183,720 and is coming off a third in a Dec. 31 optional claimer.

Purrfectly Fitting is by Iron Cat, out of the Fighting Fit mare Fitting and was bred by owners Jim Cassidy and Kathleen Ducasse. She has two wins in six starts, earnings of $80,208 and is coming off a fourth in the Dec. 9 California Distaff Turf Handicap.

Bit of Folly is by Olympio, out of the Leo Castelli mare Leo’s Lass, was bred by John Zamora and is owned by Esaul and Rachel Duran. The $13,000 Barretts purchase has four wins in 31 starts, earnings of $178,240 and is coming off a win in a Jan. 5 $32,000 claimer.

Yearly Attitude, an also-eligible, is by Event of the Year, out of the In Excess mare Excess Attitude, was bred by Betty Mabee and is owned by Thomas Wafer. She has four wins in 11 starts, earnings of $140,960 and is coming off a second by disqualification in the Oct. 28 California Cup Matron.

The leading Florida-bred contender is Grade I winner Take D’Tour.
