Memorette, Fortunate Event Travel

HALLANDALE, Fla. (Jan. 21, 2007) – Graded winner Memorette and Fortunate Event are the lone California-breds entered in Saturday’s $500,000 Sunshine Millions Filly & Mare Turf, presented by the Cloverleaf Farms II, at Gulfstream Park.

Memorette is by Memo, out of the Shahrastani mare Forever Fondre, was bred by Oak Tree Farm and is owned by Betty Currin. She has four wins in 23 starts, earnings of $628,753 and is coming off a ninth in the Dec. 18 Dahlia Handicap. She was third in the 2005 Sunshine Millions Oaks and won last year’s Grade II Beverly Hills Handicap.

Fortunate Event is by Event of the Year, out of the Wild Again mare Fortunee, was bred by The Thoroughbred Corp. and is owned by Dan Agnew. She has three wins in 25 starts, earnings of $277,538 and is coming off a win in a Jan. 10 allowance after a second in the California Cup Distance Handicap.

The top Florida-bred contender is Miss Shop.
