Valentine
Dancer Seeks Three-peat
ARCADIA, Calif. (Jan. 23,
2006) – Millionaire Valentine Dancer’s bid for a third consecutive win
in the $500,000 Sunshine Millions Warren’s Thoroughbreds Filly & Mare
Turf did not scare away a full field of opposition for Saturday’s
renewal at Santa Anita.
Valentine Dancer is by In
Excess, out of the Mr. Prospector mare Gilded Dancer and was bred by
owners Al and Sandee Kirkwood. She has eight wins in 28 starts, earnings
of $1,144,126 and is coming off an 11th in the California Cup Distaff
Nov. 6. In addition to winning this race twice, she was sixth in the
Sunshine Millions Oaks in 2003.
Eclipse Winner is by Event of
the Year, out of the Bold Ruckus mare Diamond Lane, was bred by Daniel
Kenny and is owned by Rancho San Miguel. She has four wins in 23 starts,
earnings of $137,113 and is coming off a third in a Dec. 29 optional
claimer.
Allbow is by Rainbow Blues,
out of the Tom Rolfe mare All Present, was bred by Sutherland Farms and
is owned by Christopher Eaton. She has two wins in 14 starts, earnings
of $44,970 and is coming off a second in the Dec. 26 Daring Doon at Turf
Paradise.
First Draft is by Othello, out
of the mare Beseya, was bred by Dion Recachina and is owned by Brett,
Sample, et al. She has seven wins in 40 starts, earnings of $335,044 and
is coming off a third in the Bay Meadows Cotillion Jan. 1, having
earlier won the Miss America Handicap.
Moscow Burning is by Moscow
Ballet, out of the Mr. Leader mare Burning Desire, was bred by Harris
Farms and is owned by Mariani, et al. She has nine wins in 24 starts and
could become the latest Cal-bred millionaire by finishing first or
second. She has earnings of $902,535 and is coming off a fifth in the
Dec. 17 La Prevoyante after winning the California Cup Distance
Handicap. The Grade II winner was second in this race two years ago.
Del Mar Yearling Sale graduate
Dancing General is by General Meeting, out of the Nureyev mare Dance
With Shadows, was bred by Betty Mabee and is owned by Stan Fulton. She
has three wins and three seconds in six starts, earnings of $145,760 and
is coming off a Dec. 16 allowance win.
Beneficial Bartok is by Bartok,
out of the Mill Native mare Manila Merci, was bred by Morry Cohen and is
owned by 5C Racing. She has five wins in 25 starts, earnings of $296,001
and is coming off a second in the Dec. 31 Monrovia Handicap after
winning the Queen o’ Green.
Brave Vixen is the
also-eligible. She is by Formal Gold, out of the Star de Naskra mare
Foxy Vixen, was bred by Great Falls and is owned by Jack Grossman, et
al. She has two wins in 10 starts, earnings of $89,118 and is coming off
a Dec. 30 optional claimer win.
