Leave Me Alone Leading Lady in Sprint

ARCADIA, Calif. (Jan.23.2006) – A deep and talented contingent of California-breds, led by Grade I winners Leave Me Alone and Alphabet Kisses, is entered in Saturday’s $300,000 Sunshine Millions Filly & Mare Sprint at six furlongs at Santa Anita.

Del Mar Yearling Sales graduate Leave Me Alone is by Bold Badgett, out of the Moscow Ballet mare Fabulous Ballet, was bred by Old English Rancho and is owned by S M Mitchell Ranch. She has five wins in 11 starts, earnings of $586,369 and is coming off a second in the Dec. 31 La Brea, having earlier won the Grade I Test Stakes and the Grade III Azalea.

Alphabet Kisses is by Alphabet Soup, out of the Saratoga Six mare Kiss For Six and was bred by owner Harris Farms. She has seven wins in 15 starts, earnings of $568,530 and is coming off a third in a Dec. 16 allowance. She won the 2004 Grade I La Brea, last year’s Grade II A Gleam and was fourth in last year’s Sunshine Millions Distaff.

Allswellthatnswell is by Perfect Mandate, out of the Something Lucky mare a Lucky Happening, was bred by Old English Rancho and is owned by E.W. and Judy Johnston. He has three wins in 16 starts, earnings of $169,978 and is coming off a third in the Dec. 31 Monrovia Handicap. She won the Stanford Stakes as a 3-year-old.

Etch is by Pioneering, out of the Robin des Pins mare Zia Elena, was bred by Tommy Town Thoroughbreds and is owned by Edmond Hudon. The $20,000 Barretts purchase has three wins in nine starts, earnings of $137,587 and is coming off consecutive allowance wins. This is her stakes debut.

Aclevershadeofjade is by Clever Trick, out of the Jade Hunter mare Ashadeofjade, was bred by Bacardi Bloodstock and is owned by Owners Stable. The $12,000 BArretts purchase has five wins in 30 starts, earnings of $223,446 and is coming off a third in the Jan. 7 Soviet Problem. She was claimed last July for $16,000.

Royally Chosen is by In Excess, out of the King of Kings mare Her Royalty, was bred by Old English Rancho and is owned by Abruzzo, et al. She has six wins in 24 starts, earnings of $594,175 and is coming off a fifth in the Jan. 5 Kalookan Queen after a year layoff. She has three stakes wins and was fifth in the 2004 Sunshine Millions Distaff.

Run Rebecca Run is by Swiss Yodeler, out of the Strawberry Road mare Strawberry’s Best, was bred by Patricia Youngman and is owned by Ed Friendly. The $13,500 Barretts purchase has five wins in 21 starts, earnings of $203,520 and is coming off a win in a Jan. 16 $40,000 claimer.

Thrilling Victory is by Event of the Year, out of the mare Golden Shadows, was bred by Betty Mabee and is owned by Halo Farms. She has six wins in 12 starts, earnings of $209,670 and is coming off a third in the Dec. 31 Grade I La Brea after winning consecutive stakes at Golden Gate. The $35,000 Barretts purchase also won last year’s Bay Meadows Oaks.

Da Svedonya is by Lil Tyler, out of the Procida mare Inuendo, was bred by Madera Thoroughbreds and is owned by Don Beardsworth, et al. She has four wins in 33 starts, earnings of $127,480 and is coming off a Jan. 11 optional claimer win. A $16,000 claim last summer, she is making her stakes debut.

Western Hemisphere is by General Meeting, out of the mare Excellent Lady, was bred by John and Betty Mabee, owned by Golden Eagle Farm and is a full brother to champion General Challenge. She has four wins in 12 starts, earnings of $357,575 and is coming off a win in the Jan. 5 Kalookan Queen.

Only three of the 13 entries are Florida-breds, led by Abounding Truth and Hot Storm.
