Sunshine Millions Pre-entries ARCADIA, Calif. (Jan. 18, 2006) – A total of 140 pre-entries were taken Wednesday for the Oct. 28 $3.6 million Sunshine Millions IV, for California- and Florida-breds, to be held at Santa Anita and Gulfstream Park. The most popular of the eight races is the $500,000 Sunshine Millions Cloverleaf Farms Turf, to be run at Gulfstream Park, which drew 27 pre-entries, followed closely by the $1 million Sunshine Millions Classic, to be run at Santa Anita, which drew 26. The smallest fields will be the $500,000 Sunshine Millions Ocala Breeders’ Sales Distaff at Gulfstream Park, with 10 pre-entries, and the $250,000 Sunshine Millions Dash at Santa Anita, with 11 pre-entries. Of the seven Cal-bred Grade I winners in 2005, four are pre-entered – Leave Me Alone in the Sunshine Millions Filly & Mare Sprint, Proud Tower Too and Lava Man in the Classic and Dream of Summer in the Distaff. Florida has two Grade I winners from 2005: Captain Squire, cross-entered in the Padua Stables Sprint and Turf, and Buzzards Bay in the Classic. In addition to the Grade I winners, other top-ranked Cal-breds are Valentine Dancer, gunning for a three-peat in the $500,000 Warren’s Thoroughbreds Filly & Mare Turf; Thor’s Echo in the Sprint; Night Dash and Running Free in the Turf; Devons Smokin in the $250,000 Ocala Stud Oaks; and Da Stoops in the Dash.
