$250,000 Ocala Stud Dash

HALLANDALE, Fla. (Jan. 25, 2005) – Del Mar Yearling Sales graduate Run Thruthe Sun and Packy are the lone California-breds in a field of 10 entered in Saturday’s $250,000 Ocala Stud Dash for 3-year-old colts and geldings at six furlongs on the Sunshine Millions card at Gulfstream Park.

Run Thruthe Sun is by Memo, out of the Flying Paster mare Marijen, was bred by Greg Vela, Ciaglia, et al and is owned by American Equistock. The $15,000 Del Mar purchase has three wins in four starts, most recently winning a 5 ½ furlong optional claimer Jan. 13 by 6 ½ lengths.

Packy is by Petersburg, out of the Island Whirl mare Northern Whirl, was bred Robin Mason and is owned by West Ridge Ranch. He won his debut at Emerald Downs in July by 7 ½ lengths and in his only other start was second Jan. 13 to Run Thruthe Sun.

Among the top contenders from Florida are Bushwacker, Seize the Day and Lost in the Fog.
