Run Thruthe Sun Travels for Sunshine Millions

HALLANDALE, Fla. (Jan. 20, 2005) -- When Run Thruthe Sun starts in the $250,000 Sunshine Millions Dash at Gulfstream Park on Jan. 29, he will be running at his fourth track in five career starts.

No problem, says Peter Eurton, who conditions the 3-year-old California-bred son of Memo.

“He’s a great shipper,” the 47-year-old trainer said. “I sent him to Florida early last Sunday morning. He walked on Monday and he’ll gallop every day except next Monday, when I might blow him out a half-mile.”

Run Thruthe Sun won an optional claiming race at Santa Anita by 6 ½ lengths on Jan. 13. It
was his first start in more than three months. Prior to that he won at Santa Anita, was third at Fairplex Park and broke his maiden in a Cal-bred $40,000 claiming race at Del Mar last August. He was on the lead in each of his three victories and won by at least two lengths.

“He does everything,” Eurton said. “He’s the ultimate professional. He’s got a great mind. That’s why I like him so much. You put him on the lead and he runs really relaxed. Horses come up to him thinking they’re going to go by and he’s just hanging out.”

Run Thruthe Sun has a 3-0-1 record from four starts with earnings of $66,156 for Joseph Senkovich of Ocala, Fla., who races as American Equistock Racing, and Robert Shepard of Escondido.

First post time at Santa Anita on Sunshine Millions day will be 11:45 a.m. Gates open at 10 a.m. The festive eight-race program matching California-breds against Florida-breds in four races each worth $3.6 million at Santa Anita and Gulfstream will be televised nationally on NBC from 1-3 p.m.
