Nominations Close Saturday

ARCADIA, Calif. (Jan. 9, 2003) – Regular nominations for the $3.6 million Sunshine Millions close Saturday, Jan. 11. The eight-race series will be held Saturday, Jan. 25, with four races each at Santa Anita and Gulfstream Park.

Regular nominations are $500 apiece. There will be no supplemental nominations. Pre-entries will be taken Wednesday, Jan. 15, and the post-position draw will be Monday, Jan. 20. Early-bird nominations closed Dec. 9 and can be viewed at http://www.ctba.com/sunshine03/sunm4.htm.

The four races to be held at Santa Anita are: $750,000 Vessels Stallion Farm Distaff for fillies and mares 4-year-olds and up at 1 1/16 miles; $500,000 Barretts/CTBA Turf for 4-year-olds and up at 1 1/8 miles on turf; $250,000 Sprint for 4-year-olds and up at six furlongs; $250,000 Oaks for 3-year-old fillies at seven furlongs.

The four races to be held at Gulfstream Park are: $1 million Ocala Breeders Sales Classic for 4-year-olds and up at 1 1/8 miles; $350,000 Franks Farms Filly and Mare Turf for fillies and mares 4-year-olds and up at 1 1/18 miles on turf; $250,000 Padua Stables Filly and Mare Sprint for fillies and mares 4-year-olds and up at six furlongs; $250,000 Ocala Stud Dash for 3-year-olds.

Races will be drawn with an equal number of California-bred and Florida-bred horses
