Cal-bred Longshots in F & M Sprint
HALLANDALE, Fla. (Jan. 21, 2003) –
A quartet of California-bred longshots is entered in Saturday’s $250,000
Padua Stables Filly & Mare Sprint at Gulfstream Park on the Sunshine
Millions card.
Icantgoforthat won the Jan. 3
Survive Stakes. She is a 4-year-old daughter of In Excess, out of the
Copelan mare Texinadress, was bred by Michael Pegram and claimed for
$50,000 as a 2-year-old. The Survive was her third win since the claim,
fifth overall and first stakes win in a 14-race career, her earnings
rising to $242,244.
Warren’s Whistle is now based in
New Orleans after being purchased in November for $285,000 after finishing
fourth in the California Cup Distaff. She is by Wolf Power, out of the
Pirateer mare Velveteen, and was bred by Robert Harmon.
Brite Sunny Day is a 4-year-old
daughter of High Brite, out of the Affirmed mare Sunny Sara, and was bred
by owner Harris Farms. She has never finished off the board in four
starts, with two wins and most recently a second in the Jan. 5 Work the
Crowd Handicap at one mile.
Jetinto Houston is a 4-year-old
daughter of Houston, out of the Kennedy Road mare Jetinwith Kennedy, and
was bred by Sledge Stable. She has one win in nine starts and most
recently was third in a Nov. 29 optional claimer.
Madame Pietra is the solid 8-5
morning line favorite.
