CTBA Bill Referred to Committees

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (Mar. 30, 2007) -- AB 1016, Plescia, the bill jointly sponsored by CTBA and PCQHRA has been double referred to the Assembly GO and Assembly Judiciary Committees. The bill will simplify the procedures for exercising a lien when a client has not paid what is owed for services.

No dates have been set, but we expect it to be heard in GO committee first, possibly on Apr. 18 and then in Judiciary Committee.

CTBA members should begin contacting the members of GO Committee immediately, urging them to support AB 1016. A joint letter from the two associations is included below which gives background and the arguments in support of the bill.

So far the only letter of opposition is one from Sherry DeBoer which claims that we are encouraging the sale of horses for slaughter. Kirk Breed of PCQHRA and Bob Fox are setting up meetings next week with every committee member, however won't be able to actually meet with committee members until the week after, due to the Easter break.

For your convenience we have included a link to the bill and to each committee and we urge everyone in CTBA to contact members of the GO committee immediately.
