Worker’s Comp Bill to Governor

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (May. 5, 2004) – The bill that would reduce worker’s compensation costs for California horsemen has passed the Assembly and is awaiting Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger’s signature to become law.

The state takeout rate will be raised by one-half of one percent to generate nearly $10 million to offset insurance costs. A similar bill was vetoed by Schwarzenegger, but his concerns were addressed in the re-drafted measure, which was authored by Assemblyman Jerome Horton. The legislation passed the Senate last month.
