Grade I Winners Meet in Tiznow
INGLEWOOD, Calif. (Apr. 24, 2008) -
Grade I winning sprinters Bilo and Johnny Eves take on a former winner
of this race in Lucky J. H. in Sunday’s $150,000 Tiznow Stakes at 7 ½
furlongs on Hollywood Park’s Gold Rush card.
Bilo is by Bertrando, out of the
Devil’s Bag mare Raffie’s Bag, was bred by Ed Nahem, foaled at River
Edge Farm and is owned by Scott and Wayne Anastasi and Dan Capen. He has
seven wins in 16 starts, earnings of $524,036 and is coming off a sixth
in the Jan. 26 Sunshine Millions Classic. He was third in this race last
year and was second in the Golden Eagle on the 2004 Gold Rush Card.
Johnny Eves is by Skimming, out of
the Capote mare Capote’s Halo, was bred by owners Mooncoin LLC and was
foaled at Ridgeley Farms. He has five wins in 13 starts, earnings of
$377,720 and is coming off a fifth in the Apr. 5 Potrero Grande.
Medzendeekron is by Unusual Heat,
out of the Cozzene mare Fleet Sparrow, was bred by Abrams/Nakkashian/Roberts
and was foaled at Old English Rancho. He has three wins in 12 starts,
earnings of $181,252 and is coming off a third in the Apr. 12
Commonwealth.
Stella Mark is by Benchmark, out of
the Deputy Minister mare Social Savvy, was bred by Marty and Pam Wygod,
was foaled at River Edge Farm, is owned by Jeff Sengara and trained by
Ted West. The $6,000 Barretts purchase has four wins in 13 starts,
earnings of $171,276 and is coming off an Apr. 12 allowance win.
Cost of Freedom is by Cee’s Tizzy,
out of the Moscow Ballet mare Freedom Dance, was bred by, foaled at and
is owned by Harris Farms and trained by Carla Gaines. He has three wins
in four starts, earnings of $65,320 and is coming off three consecutive
wins.
Cayambe is by Helmsman, out of the
Restless Con mare Pacaya, was bred by Geri Forrester, was foaled at
Pegasus Ranch, is owned by Filouette Enterprises and is trained by Art
Sherman. He has five wins in 16 starts, earnings of $174,690 and is
coming off a sixth in an Apr. 6 allowance.
Jack’s Wild is by Lil Tyler, out of
the Affirmed mare It’s Binnice, was bred by Madera Thoroughbreds &
Kjelstrom, was foaled at Madera Thoroughbreds and is owned by Venneri
Racing. He has four wins in 31 starts, earnings of $371,430 and is
coming off a fourth in the Nov. 2 California Cup Mile. He was third and
fourth in the last two runnings of the Khaled Stakes on Gold Rush Day.
Notional is by In Excess, out of
the French Deputy mare Truly Blessed, was bred by and foaled at Vessels
Stallion Farm and is owned by J.P. Reddam. The $235,000 Barretts
purchase has three wins in eight starts, earnings of $515,740 and is
coming off a 16th in the Mar. 29 Dubai Duty Free.
Rush With Thunder is by Tribal
Rule, out of the Bertrando mare Gentle Words, was bred by Marty and Pam
Wygod, was foaled at River Edge Farm and is owned by L-Bo Racing and
Monte Pyle. The $18,000 Barretts purchase has six wins in 20 starts,
earnings of $226,240 and is coming off an eighth in the Mar. 16 Crystal
Water.
Dakota Padre is by Game Plan, out
of the His Majesty mare Lisbona, was bred by Royal Match Stud and
Rusling Oaks and is owned by Curt and Lila Lanning. The $27,000 Barretts
purchase has three wins in 16 starts, earnings of $155,890 and is coming
off a fourth in the Apr. 4 Sensational Star.
Lucky J. H. is by Cee’s Tizzy, out
of the A.P. Indy mare Lucky C. H., was bred by, foaled at and owned by
Harris Farms. He has seven wins in 17 starts, earnings of $570,755 and
is coming off a win in the Sensational Star having won this race in 2006
and was second in the 2005 Snow Chief Stakes on the Gold Rush card.
Leesider is by Bertrando, out of
the Storm Cat mare Sweet Paradise, was bred by Marty and Pam Wygod, was
foaled at River Edge Farm, is owned by Super Horse Inc. and is trained
by Dan Morgan. The $50,000 Northern California Yearling Sale graduate
has two wins in 11 starts, earnings of $214,521 and is coming off an
eighth in an Apr. 5 allowance, having won last year’s Snow Chief Stakes
on the Gold Rush card.
