INGLEWOOD, Calif. (Apr. 24, 2007) – Northern California Yearling Sales graduate Leesider outdueled C. T. Zee in a thrilling stretch drive to win Sunday’s $250,000 Cal National Snow Chief Stakes for California-bred 3-year-olds, the feature event on the Gold Rush VIII card at Hollywood Park.

Leesider is by Bertrando, out of the Storm Cat mare Sweet Paradise, was bred by Marty and Pam Wygod and is owned by Super Horse Inc. He was trained by Patrick Gallagher and ridden by Alex Solis.

The $50,000 purchase has two wins in six starts and tripled his earnings to $200,200. He was coming off a second in a Mar. 30 allowance.

C. T. Zee finished second and Zoning In finished third, but was disqualified for interference in the stretch and placed sixth, with Tap It Light moved up to third. Leesider ran the 1 1/8 miles in 1:52.31 at odds of 7-1.
