Memorette Seeks Another Valentine
INGLEWOOD, Calif. (Apr. 24, 2007) –
Defending champion Memorette seeks a repeat in Sunday’s $150,000 Fran’s
Valentine Stakes for California-bred fillies and mares at 1 1/16 miles on
the Hollywood Park turf course as part of the Gold Rush VIII card.
Northern California Yearling Sales
graduate Bai and Bai is by Falstaff, out of the Fappiano mare Bai Shun,
was bred by Mares’ Nest and is owned by Vinson and Wilson. The $3,200
purchase has six wins in 14 starts, earnings of $335,848 and is coming off
a second in the Feb. 11 La Canada.
Del Mar Yearling Sales graduate
Dancing General is by General Meeting, out of the Nureyev mare Dance With
Shadows, was bred by Betty Mabee and is owned by Stan Fulton. The $32,000
purchase has four wins in 10 starts, earnings of $279,720 and is coming
off a win in the Apr. 6 Pro or Con.
Easy Obsession is by Moscow Ballet,
out of the Alysheba mare Alygria, was bred by Dale Pyle Jr. and is owned
by Tom Grether Farms. She has four wins in 21 starts, earnings of $149,337
and is coming off a win in a Feb. 28 optional claimer.
Fortunate Event is by Event of the
Year, out of the Wild Again mare Fortunee, was bred by The Thoroughbred
Corp, and is owned by Dan Agnew. She has three wins in 28 starts, earnings
of $281,216 and is coming off a fifth in the Pro or Con. She was fifth in
this race last year.
Gentle Charmer is by Bertrando, out
of the Great Charmer mare Triple Charm, was bred by Marty and Pam Wygod
and is owned by Curt & Lila Lanning. The $17,000 Barretts purchase has
five wins in 21 starts, earnings of $169,045 and is coming off an Apr. 1
optional claimer win.
Memorette is by Memo, out of the
Shahrastani mare Forever Fondre, was bred by Oak Tree Farm and is owned by
Betty Currin. She has four wins in 25 starts, earnings of $746,753 and is
coming off a third in the Mar. 25 Santa Ana. She won this race last year.
Nashoba’s Key is by Silver Hawk,
out of the Caerleon mare Nashoba, was bred by Williamson Racing and is
owned by Warren Williamson. She has won both of her starts and has
earnings of $61,800.
Yearly Attitude is by Event of the
Year, out of the In Excess mare Excess Attitude, was bred by Betty Mabee
and is owned by Thomas Wafer. She has four wins in 12 starts, earnings of
$140,960 and is coming off a ninth in the Jan. 27 Sunshine Millions
Distaff. She was second in last year’s Warren’s Thoroughbreds on Gold Rush
Day.
