Scramble in Tiznow Stakes
INGLEWOOD, Calif. (Apr. 27, 2006) –
Lucky J. H., second in last year’s Snow Chief Stakes on Gold Rush Day,
takes on stakes winners Red Warrior and Areyoutalkintome in Sunday’s
$150,000 Tiznow Stakes for California-breds at 7 ½ furlongs on Hollywood
Park’s Gold Rush VII Day.
Lucky J. H. is by Cee’s Tizzy, out
of the A.P. Indy mare Lucky C. H. and was bred by owner Harris Farms. He
has three wins in nine starts, earnings of $180,435 and is coming off a
Feb. 20 allowance win.
Red Warrior is by Benchmark, out of
the Plugged Nickle mare Sparkling Nickle, was bred by Madera Thoroughbreds
and is owned by Miguel Rubio. He has four wins in 20 starts, earnings of
$340,745 and is coming off a ninth in the Mar. 19 Crystal Water. He was
seventh in this race a year ago and his last win was the Sunshine Millions
Sprint 15 months ago.
Areyoutalkintome is by Smokester,
out of the Storm Bird mare Andrea Gail, was bred by John Toffan & Trudy
McCaffery and is owned by Manzani and Sarno. The $10,000 Barretts purchase
has eight wins in 30 starts, earnings of $592,666 and is coming off a
fourth in the Apr. 2 Potrero Grande. Once claimed for $32,000, he was
fifth in this race a year ago and his biggest win came in the Grade III El
Conejo Handicap last year.
Excess Summer is by In Excess, out
of the Bold Ruckus mare Summer Ruckus, was bred by E. Gregson and E.J.
Hand and is owned by Archaederra or Heller or Orozco. The $3,500 Barretts
purchase has 10 wins in 22 starts, earnings of $613,100 and is coming off
a win in a Mar. 24 optional claimer. Once claimed for $40,000, he won the
2003 On Trust Handicap at this track and distance.
Swiss Lad is by Phone Saga, out of
the Notebook mare Swiss Courts Cheat and was bred by owner Ron Waranch. He
