Da Stoops, Sam’s Ace in Snow Chief

INGLEWOOD, Calif. (Apr. 27, 2006) – Da Stoops, who has never won beyond seven furlongs, will try to stretch out to 1 1/8 miles and take on Sam’s Ace in Sunday’s $250,000 Cal National Snow Chief Stakes for California-bred 3-year-olds, the feature on Hollywood Park’s Gold Rush Day card.

Da Stoops is by Distorted Humor, out of the Kingdom of Spain mare Glamorous Lady, was bred by Malibu Valley Farms and is owned by Watson & Weitman Performances. He has three wins in 10 starts, earnings of $336,950 and is coming off a second in the Apr. 9 San Pedro.

Scootin George is by Lake George, out of the Sonny’s Solo Halo mare Scootin Merit, was bred by Bedford Stables and Stonehenge Stables and is owned by Benjamin Warren. He has one win in seven starts, $58,300 in earnings and is coming off a sixth in the La Puente.

Sam’s Ace is by In Excess, out of the Meadowlake mare Queen of Pain, was bred by Patricia Monroe and is owned by Reddam & Wellman. A $32,000 claim out of his debut, he has three wins in five starts, earnings of $131,040 and is coming off a fourth in the Apr. 1 Grade I Florida Derby.

Stephen Bruce is by Event of the Year, out of the Private Account mare Ms. Margi, was bred by Homan Hadawi and is owned by Stephen Weissman. He has two wins in eight starts, earnings of $71,903 and is coming off an Apr. 12 win when he was claimed for $50,000.

Exchange Offer is by Bertrando, out of the Pirate’s Bounty mare Feverish and was bred by owners Marty and Pam Wygod. He has one win in three starts, earnings of $37,680 and is coming off a fourth in an Apr. 6 allowance.

Mesa Magic is by Bertrando, out of the Never Tabled mare Mirabilia, was bred by Marty and Pam Wygod and is owned by Bisharat or Bisharat. Claimed for $40,000, he has two wins in nine starts, earnings of $45,420 and is coming off a fifth in an Apr. 6 allowance.

Fighting City Hall is by Smart Strike, out of the Nureyev mare Grant a Wish, was bred by B. Wayne Hughes and is owned by Robert Bone. Claimed out of his debut for $40,000, he has two wins in four starts, earnings of $43,660 and is coming off a second in an Apr. 16 optional claimer.

Mr Playwright is by Vaudeville, out of the Conquistador Cielo mare Irish Carey, was bred by Tommy Town Thoroughbreds and is owned by Manuel Uriza. Once claimed for $8,000, he has two wins in seven starts, earnings of $16,366 and is coming off a third in the Mar. 25 Tempe Handicap.
