$250,000 Cal National Snow Chief Stakes
DA STOOPS

INGLEWOOD, Calif. (Apr. 30, 2006) – Da Stoops erased all doubts about whether he could handle the distance of 1 1/8 miles with a convincing five-length victory in Sunday’s $250,000 Cal National Snow Chief Stakes for California-breds, the feature event in the $1.3 million Gold Rush Day VII at Hollywood Park.

Da Stoops is by Distorted Humor, out of the Kingdom of Spain mare Glamorous Lady, was bred by Malibu Valley Farms and is owned by Watson & Weitman Performances.

He is trained by Bob Baffert and was ridden by Victor Espinoza. He ran the distance in 1:49.45 as the 9-5 second choice.

Da Stopps has four wins in 11 starts, earnings of $486,950 and was coming off a second in the Apr. 9 San Pedro. He earlier won the California Breeders’ Champion Stakes by 8 ¾ lengths and the Sunshine Millions Dash by 7 ½ lengths, the latter with a 110 Beyer Speed Figure.

Fighting City Hall finished second and Scootin George was third. Sam’s Ace, the 6-5 favorite, was pulled up on the backstretch.
