INGLEWOOD, Calif. (Apr. 30, 2006) – Memorette snapped a 10-race losing streak with a steady rally to win Sunday’s $150,000 Fran’s Valentine Stakes for fillies and mares at Gold Rush Day VII at Hollywood Park.

Memorette is a 4-year-old filly by Memo, out of the Shahrastani mare Forever Fondre, was bred by Oak Tree Farm and is owned by Betty Currin. She is trained by Bill Currin and was ridden by Alex Solis.

She has three wins in 17 starts, earnings of $527,073 and was coming off a fifth in a Mar. 31 allowance. Her last win was the December 2004 California Breeders’ Champion Stakes.

Memorette ran the 1 1/16 miles on turf in a quick 1:39.53 and finished a head in front of pace-setter Dancing Edie at odds of 9-2. Millionaire Moscow Burning put on a mild rally in the stretch and finished third.

Although Memorette hasn’t been a win machine, she compiled a sizeable bankroll with five placings in graded stakes, including runner-up finishes in the Grade I Las Virgenes and Santa Anita Oaks and the Grade II Hollywood Breeders’ Cup Oaks and San Clemente Handicap.
