Moscow Burning for More Gold

INGLEWOOD, Calif. (Apr. 27, 2006) – Millionaire Moscow Burning, who won the race in 2004, is the likely favorite in Sunday’s running of the $150,000 Fran’s Valentine Stakes for California-bred fillies and mares at 1 1/16 miles on the Hollywood Park turf course on Gold Rush VII.

Moscow Burning is by Moscow Ballet, out of the Mr. Leader mare Burning Desire, was bred by Harris Farms & Ken Maddy Trust and is owned by Bullseye Racing. Once claimed for $25,000, she has 11 wins in 27 starts, earnings of $1,269,000 and is coming off a second in the Apr. 8 American Beauty Handicap.

Cyber Slew is by Siberian Summer, out of the Slew o’Gold mare Truly Golden, was bred by Kevin Carey and is owned by Rancho Ballena. She has six wins in 28 starts, earnings of $389,873 and is coming off a fifth in the Apr. 1 Work the Crowd. She was fourth in this race in 2004.

Fortunate Event is by Event of the Year, out of the Wild Again mare Fortunee, was bred by The Thoroughbred Corp., and is owned by Dan Agnew. She has two wins in 18 starts, earnings of $169,570 and is coming off a fourth in the Apr. 1 Work the Crowd. The $45,000 Barretts purchase is a half-sister to Snow Chief Stakes winner Cheiron.

Memorette is by Memo, out of the Shahrastani mare Forever Fondre, was bred by Oak Tree Farm and is owned by Betty Currin. She has two wins in 16 starts, earnings of $437,073 and is coming off a fifth in a Mar. 31 allowance. Her last win was the 2004 California Breeders’ Champion Stakes, 11 races back.
