283 Nominations for Gold Rush
INGLEWOOD, Calif. (Apr. 11, 2006) –
Nominations closed Friday with 283 horses submitted for the 10 stakes
races to be run on the $1.31 million Cal National Bank Gold Rush VII for
California-breds to be held Apr. 30 at Hollywood Park.
Among the Cal-bred stars nominated
are Grade I winners Lava Man and Leave Me Alone, millionaire Moscow
Burning and graded winners Da Stoops, Proposed and Yougottawanna.
The most nominations were for the
$60,000 Pepper Oaks Farm Stakes for maiden colts and geldings with 51. The
fewest nominations were for the $250,000 Cal National Bank Snow Chief
Stakes for 3-year-olds with 13.
Among the prominent horses pointing
for the day are Da Stoops in the Snow Chief; Press Camp and Bai and Bai in
the $200,000 Melair Stakes for 3-year-old fillies; Moscow Burning,
Somethinaboutlaura and Proposed in the $150,000 Fran’s Valentine on the
turf; Lava Man (who might instead race in the Pimlico Special), Crystal
Water Handicap winner Super Strut and Yougottawanna in the $150,000 TVG
Khaled on the turf; Leave Me Alone and Somethinaboutlaura in the $150,000
B. Thoughtful and Areyoutalkintome in the $150,000 Tiznow Stakes.
Cal National Gold Rush VII,
scheduled for the opening weekend of Hollywood Park's 67th Spring Summer
Meet, will have a special post time of 12:30 p.m. The program will include
a Guaranteed $1 million Pick Six and will be followed by a Sugar Ray
concert in the general admission area.
