Yougottawanna Tiznow Stakes
INGLEWOOD, Calif. (Apr. 21, 2005) – Multiple graded winner Yougottawanna seeks his first Hollywood Park win in Sunday’s $150,000 Tiznow Stakes for California-breds on the Gold Rush card.
Red Warrior is by Benchmark, out of the Plugged Nickle mare Sparkling Nickle, was bred by Madera Thoroughbreds and is owned by Miguel Rubio. He has four wins in 15 starts, $324,095 in earnings, is coming off a seventh in the Crystal Water Handicap and has a win in the Sunshine Millions Sprint.
Greg’s Gold is by Lake George, out of the Fit to Fight mare Lake Windermere and was bred by owner William Boswell. He has two wins, earnings of $101,968 and is coming off a second in an Apr. 6 allowance.
El Don is by Cee’s Tizzy, out of the Pretense mare Timed Perfectly and was bred by owner Harris Farms. He has three wins in 10 starts, earnings of $111,090 and was disqualified from third and placed fourth in a Mar. 11 optional claimer.
Lava Man is by Slew City Slew, out of the Nostalgia’s Star mare Li’l Ms. Leonard, was bred by Lonnie Arterburn and is owned by STD Racing Stable. He has four wins in 20 starts, earnings of $262,799 and is coming off a fifth in the Crystal Water Handicap. He also won the Derby Trial at Fairplex and was second in the Grade I Malibu.
Ice Legend is by Bertrando, out of the It’s Freezing mare Antifreeze, was bred by F. Jack Liebau Sr. and is owned by Curt and Lila Lanning. He has four wins in 12 starts, earnings of $125,070 and is coming off a third in the Mar. 26 San Carlos.
Unfurl the Flag is by Bertrando, out of the Storm Cat mare Escape the Storm, was bred by Marty and Pam Wygod and is owned by Gaylord Ailshie. He has four wins in 16 starts, earnings of $220,407 and is coming off a third in a Mar. 20 allowance.
Anziyan Royalty is by Anziyan, out of the Tank’s Prospect mare Shy Solana and was bred by owner Nick Cafarchia. He has six wins in 14 starts, $236,640 in earnings, but this is his first start since winning the Nov. 13 On Trust Handicap.
Yougottawanna is by Candi’s Gold, out of the Midway Circle mare Chapel’s Sister, was bred by Halo Farms and is owned by Peter Redekop. He has 10 wins in 33 starts, $626,357 in earnings and is coming off a fifth in the Grade III Stanford Breeders’ Cup Handicap.
Areyoutalkintome is by Smokester, out of the Storm Bird mare Andrea Gail, was bred by Toffan and McCaffery and is owned by Manzani and Sarno. The $10,000 Barretts purchase has seven wins in 17 starts (winning three of his last five), earnings of $432,092 and is coming off a Mar. 10 allowance victory. He won the Real Good Deal, El Conejo and California Cup Sprint.
Grand Appointment is by Unbridled, out of the El Gran Senor mare Grand Sophisticate, was bred by John and Betty Mabee and is owned by Suarez Racing. He has six wins in 18 starts, earnings of $295,941 and is coming off a sixth in the Mar. 19 Phoenix Gold Cup that snapped a three-race win streak.
