INGLEWOOD, Calif. (Apr. 24, 2005) – Robador, a longshot maiden, unleashed a furious stretch run and caught Lucky J. H. at the wire to win Sunday’s $250,000 Cal National Snow Chief Stakes for California-bred 3-year-olds, the feature race on the Cal National Gold Rush VI card at Hollywood Park.

Robador is by Robannier, out of the Falstaff mare Ivory Bowl and was bred by owner Robert Walter Family Trust. This was his eighth try to get his first win and he added $150,000 to his previous earnings of $41,646 for a total of $192,646.

Robador was coming off consecutive runner-up finishes in an open maiden turf race Mar. 25 and a Cal-bred maiden race Mar. 3. He also had three show finishes.

He ran the 1 1/8 miles in 1:4, and won by a neck over Lucky J. H., with Top This and That finishing third.

He was trained by Eoin Harty, ridden by Jose Valdivia Jr. and went off at odds of 23-1.
