INGLEWOOD, Calif. (Apr. 24, 2004) – Throw Me a Curve nosed out Bilo at the wire to win Saturday’s $70,000 Golden Eagle Farms allowance stakes on the Gold Rush V card at Hollywood Park. Throw Me a Curve is a 3-year-old gelding by Cork, out of the Something Lucky mare Curves ‘n Curls, was bred by Old English Rancho and owned by Barber & deBruycker. Old English Rancho also co-bred Royally Chosen, winner of the $150,000 B. Thoughtful Stakes earlier on the card. In the Golden Eagle, Throw Me a Curve went off at odds of 7-1 and ran the seven furlongs in 1:21.80. Bilo was second and Fairly Crafty was third. Throw Me a Curve was ridden by Victor Espinoza, his second win on the card, and trained by John Sadler. Cozy Guy and Thaumaturge were scratched.
