Yearly Report Heads Melair

INGLEWOOD, Calif. (Apr. 20, 2004) -- Graded stakes winner Yearly Report is the likely favorite among a field of eight in Saturday's $200,000 Melair Stakes for California-bred 3-year-old fillies at 1 1/16 miles on the Gold Rush V card at Hollywood Park.

Yearly Report is by General Meeting, out of the Half a Year mare Fiscal Year, was bred by John and Betty Mabee and is owned by Golden Eagle Farm. She won the Grade II Santa Ynez in her third start and was second in the California Breeders' Champion Stakes to Silent Sighs. She is drawn on the rail.

Beneficial Bartok is by Bartok, out of the Mill Native mare Manila Mercy, was bred by Morry Cohen and is owned by 5C Racing Stable. She is a maiden.

Iza Legend is by Iz a Saros, out of the Rumbo mare Bonnie Blue Me, was bred by owner Gerald Redman. She has one win in four starts and is coming off a third in an Apr. 4 allowance.

Nandu is by is by Bertrando, out of the Private Account mare Personal Victory, was bred by Ed Nahem and is owned by King Edward Racing Stable. Her only win in four starts came at Hollywood Park and she is coming off a third in a Mar. 24 $62,500 claimer.

Nicole and Ben is by Russian Courage, out of the Order mare Orderly Walk, was bred by owner Robert Moreno. She has one win in seven starts but has placed in the Cover Gal and California Breeders' Champion Stakes.

Remembrances is by Cherokee Run, out of the Dixie Brass mare Remember When, was bred by Donald and Mary Zuckerman and is owned by Stan Fulton. She has two wins and most recently was third in a Mar. 10 optional claimer. She was a $120,000 purchase at Barretts.

Silent Kingdom is by Via Lombardia, out of the I'ma Hell Raiser mare Wreak Havoc, was bred by Terry Jacobs and Phyllis Jacobs and is owned by Shandra Hudson. She broke her maiden in her seventh try for $28,000 claiming tag and is coming off a second in a Mar. 25 starter's allowance.

Western Hemisphere is by General Meeting, out of the Smarten mare Excellent Lady, was bred by John and Betty Mabee and is owned by Golden Eagle Farm. She won her second start Mar. 13 by five lengths, beating Beneficial Bartok.
