Stakes Winners Load Fran's Valentine

INGLEWOOD, Calif. (Apr. 21, 2004) -- Co-high weights Bartok's Blithe and Valentine Dancer and multiple stakes winner Super High are among the entries in Saturday's $150,000 Fran's Valentine Stakes for fillies and mares at 1 1/16 miles on the Hollywood Park turf course, part of the Gold Rush V card.

Valentine Dancer is by In Excess, out of the Mr. Prospector mare Gilded Dancer, was bred by owners Al and Sandee Kirkwood. She is a multiple stakes winner of $605,006 who beat Moscow Burning and Bartok's Blithe in the Sunshine Millions Filly & Mare Turf.

Bartok's Blithe is by Bartok, out of the Roanoke mare Merry Krisoke, was bred by Morry Cohen and is owned by 5C Racing Stable. She won the Melair Stakes last year, was third in the Sunshine Millions Filly & Mare Turf and has $320,116 in earnings.

Super High is by High Brite, out of the Zanthe mare Image of Super, was bred by owner Harris Farms. She is a multiple stakes winner of $639,668. She has three wins and two seconds in six tries at Hollywood Park and was second to Bear Fan in the Irish O'Brien.

The Toast of Troy is by Unusual Heat, out of the Native Prospector mare Laguna Sunrise and was bred by owner Madeline Auerbach. She has two wins in 13 starts.

Sweet Frippery is by Moscow Ballet, out of the Alysheba mare Alygria, was bred by Kenneth Smole and Jane Conway and is owned by CRK Stable. She has $154,014 in earnings but is looking for her first stakes win.

Deputy Tombe is by Deputy Commander, out of the Chief's Crown mare Epi Tombe, was bred by owner St. George's Farm. She was third in the Mar. 27 March Madness Handicap and has $115,574 in earnings.

Moscow Burning is by Moscow Ballet, out of the Mr. Leader mare Burning Desire, was bred by Harris Farms & Ken Maddy Trust and is owned by Jeffrey Mariani, Michael Nentwig and Dallas Van Kempen. She won the California Cup Distance Handicap and most recently was fifth in the Grade II Orchid Handicap at Gulfstream Park. She has earnings of $307,165.
