Like a Gold Rush

INGLEWOOD, Calif. (May 1, 2001) - With an on-track handle of more than $4 million and a total handle of $17 million, Saturday's Gold Rush II was declared a success by Hollywood Park racing secretary Martin Panza.

"This is the only day other than Hollywood Gold Cup when we do that with our own horses," Panza said. "The fields were large, the races competitive and the people had fun. That's what it's all about.

On-track handle was up 10 percent from last year's inaugural and total handle was up six percent.
