CTBA Del Mar Yearling Sale to be Broadcast via Satellite

ARCADIA, CA-In its on-going quest to develop and grow California's yearling market, CTBA Sales has broken new ground by announcing plans to satellite broadcast this year's Del Mar yearling sale Aug. 16 and 17 from the Del Mar HorsePark.

"The CTBA is putting its best foot forward to improve the yearling marketplace in California," said CTBA General Manager Doug Burge. "We believe satellite broadcasting the sale will introduce the Del Mar Yearling sale to an entirely new audience and help cultivate potential buyers as well."

The broadcast will enable interested buyers from around the country to bid on the auction live via satellite. All buyers must register with CTBA Sales prior to the sale. Approved bidders will be given a personal identification number (P.I.N.), allowing them to bid by telephone.

To receive the signal, downlinkers are asked to tune their satellite to Telstar 4, Transponder 20 on Monday, Aug. 16 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. Pacific Time, and Tuesday Aug. 17 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Pacific Time. Test day is scheduled for Wednesday, Aug. 4, 1999, in order for downlink operators to verity that they are able to tune in the satellite and transponder correctly. Call the CTBA at (626) 445-7800 with any questions.
