$150,000 Dodge Ram/Donald Valpredo Cal Cup Sprint
BILO

ARCADIA, Calif. (Nov. 3, 2007) – Only days after the death of his owner and breeder, Ed Nahem, Grade I winner Bilo scored a hard-fought neck win over Bonfante in Saturday’s $150,000 Dodge Ram/Donald Valpredo California Cup Sprint at Oak Tree at Santa Anita.

The 7-year-old gelding gave sire Bertrando his third consecutive winner on the card. Bilo is out of the Devil’s Bag mare Raffle’s Bag, and was bred and raced by Nahem, who died earlier in the week.

Bilo was foaled at River Edge Farm, was ridden by Joe Talamo and trained by Marty Jones. He has seven wins in 15 starts, earnings of $524,036 and was returning from a four-month vacation following his win in the Grade I Triple Bend Handicap at Hollywood Park.

He ran the six furlongs in 1:07.87 at odds of 5-2. Bonfante, third in the race last year, was second and Areyoutalkintome, second in the race in 2005, was third in the field of seven.
