$100,000 TVG Cal Cup Distance

IMAGINE
ARCADIA, Calif. (Nov. 3, 2007) –
Favored Imagine rallied boldly around the turn to draw clear, then held
off Rockella late for a three-quarter length victory in Saturday’s
$100,000 TVG California Cup Distance Handicap at Oak Tree at Santa Anita.
Imagine is a 4-year-old by Giant’s
Causeway, out of the California champion Bertrando mare Smooth Player, was
foaled at River Edge Farm and was bred by owners Marty Wygod and John
Spohler. Wygod owned and bred Bountiful Native, winner of the inaugural
running of this race in 1991.
Corey Nakatani rode Imagine and
John Shirreffs was the trainer. Imagine has five wins in nine starts,
earnings of $267,059 and was coming off a fifth in the Sept. 29 Grade I
Yellow Ribbon after winning the CTT & TOC Handicap. She ran the 1¼ miles
on turf in 2:01.90.
Rockella was second and Easy
Obsession was third.
