ARCADIA, Calif. (Oct. 31, 207) –
Grade II winner Memorette takes on defending champion Special Heather in
Saturday’s $100,000 California Cup Distance Handicap for fillies and mares
at Oak Tree at Santa Anita.
Aunt Pink is by Unusual Heat, out
of the General Meeting mare Multiple Meetings, was bred by David Abrams
and Tom Roberts, was foaled at Old English Rancho and is owned by
Annabelle Stute and The Hat Ranch. The $50,000 Barretts purchase has one
win in nine starts, earnings of $31,510 and is coming off a second in an
Oct. 11 optional claimer.
Easy Obsession is by Moscow Ballet,
out of the Alysheba mare Alygria, was bred by Dale Pyle, foaled at Harris
Farms and is owned by B.J. Wright. She has five wins in 26 starts,
earnings of $185,377 and is coming off an Oct. 14 starter’s allowance win.
Fortunate Event is by Event of the
Year, out of the Wild Again mare Fortunee, was bred by The Thoroughbred
Corp., was foaled at Golden Eagle Farm and is owned by Dan Agnew. The
$45,000 Barretts purchase has three wins in 31 starts, earnings of
$305,216 and is coming off an eighth in the Sept. 21 Las Madrinas. She was
second in this race last year and third in 2005.
Imagine is by Giant’s Causeway, out
of the Bertrando mare Smooth Player, was foaled at River Edge Farm and was
bred by owners Marty Wygod and John Spohler. She has four wins in eight
starts, earnings of $207,059 and is coming off a fifth in the Sept. 29
Yellow Ribbon.
Lupita’sluckyangel is by Flying
Continental, out of the Our Blue Chip mare Chip’s de Mere, was bred by
Pier Group Stables, was foaled at Harris Farms and is owned by Michael
Espinosa. She has five wins in 30 starts, earnings of $125,826 and is
coming off a fourth in an Oct. 6 allowance.
Memorette is by Memo, out of the
Shahrastani mare Forever Fondre, was bred by Oak Tree Farm, was foaled at
Golden Eagle Farm and is owned by Betty Currin. She has four wins in 29
starts, earnings of $836,753 and is coming off a fourth in the Sept. 29
Yellow Ribbon.
Rockella is by Tribal Rule, out of
the Strike Gold mare Monterey Gold, was bred by Marty and Pam Wygod,
foaled at River Edge Farm and is owned by Hollendorfer, Todaro, Watson and
Yee. The $5,000 Barretts purchase has five wins in 14 starts, earnings of
$164,005 and is coming off a fourth in the Oct. 6 Autumn Leaves.
Rollerskates is by Comic Strip, out
of the Cee’s Tizzy mare Frenzied, was bred by owners Teichner and Teichner
and was foaled at Special T Thoroughbreds. She has one win in eight
starts, earnings of $53,840 and is coming off a sixth in an Oct. 3
optional claimer.
Special Heather is by Truckee, out
of the Silver Hawk mare Hawk’s Heather, was bred by Eagle Oak Ranch,
foaled at Creston Farm and is owned by Melanie and Gary Thompson. The
$4,000 Barretts purchase has four wins in eight starts, $134,980 in
earnings and is coming off a sixth in the Aug. 25 Solana Beach, her first
race since winning this race last year.
