Somethinaboutlaura Shoots for a Million

ARCADIA, Calif. (Oct. 31, 2007) – Defending champion Somethinaboutlaura attempts to become a millionaire and Grade I winner Romance is Diane attempts to regain winning form in Saturday’s $150,000 California Cup Matron Handicap at Oak Tree at Santa Anita.

Six-time stakes winner Bai and Bai is by Falstaff, out of the Fappiano mare Bai Shun, was bred by and foaled at Mares’ Nest and is owned by Robert and Beverly Lewis Trust. The $3,200 Northern California Yearling Sale purchase has eight wins in 20 starts, earnings of $562,318 and is coming off a third in the Oct. 7 Lady’s Secret. She won the Cal Cup Juvenile Fillies in 2005.

Film Editor is by Bertrando, out of the Storm Cat mare Brave the Storm, was bred by owner George Krikorian and foaled at Cardiff Stud Farm. She has three wins in 13 starts, earnings of $147,456 and is coming off an Oct. 4 allowance win.

Fun Logic is by Miesque’s Son, out of the Housebuster mare Fun Project, was bred by owners Currin and Eisman and was foaled at Vessels Stallion Farm. She has five wins in 25 starts, earnings of $347,772 and is coming off a fifth in the Oct. 7 Lady’s Secret. She was fifth in the Cal Cup Distaff last year and third in the 2005 Cal Cup Juvenile Fillies.

Purrfectly Fitting is by Iron Cat, out of the Fighting Fit mare Fitting, was bred by owners Jim Cassidy and Kathleen Ducasse and was foaled at Creston Farms. She has three wins in 11 starts, earnings of $149,030 and is coming off a win in a Sept. 27 optional claimer. She was eighth in last year’s Cal Cup Distaff.

Romance Is Diane is by In Excess, out of the Prized mare Romantic Fibs, was bred by Swan Equine, was foaled at Magali Farms and is owned by Senji Nishimura. She has three wins in nine starts, earnings of $417,660 and is coming off a second in the Sept. 2 Torrey Pines. She is winless since last December’s Hollywood Starlet after winning the Cal Cup Juvenile Fillies.

She’s an Eleven is by In Excess, out of the Flying Sensation mare She’s a Sensation, was bred by Old English Rancho and Joe Turner, was foaled at Old English Rancho and is owned by C R K Stable. She has two wins in nine starts, earnings of $221,954 and is coming off a sixth in the Oct. 7 Lady’s Secret.

Somethinaboutlaura is by Dance Floor, out of the It’s Freezing mare Crystals of Ice, was bred by Lilley Ranch and is owned by Hollendorfer, Miller, Sikura, Todaro. She has 16 wins in 28 starts, earnings of $960,865 and is on a four stakes win streak. She won the race last year and was fourth in 2005.

Swiss Current is by Swiss Yodeler, out of the Thunder Gulch mare Brilliant Thunder, was bred by owner Tailwind Racing and was foaled at Pegasus Ranch. She has three wins in 14 starts, earnings of $208,460 and is coming off a win in the Sept. 17 CTBA Marian Stakes. She was second in last year’s Cal Cup Juvenile Fillies.
