Dancing Edie Not Bowing Out in Distaff

ARCADIA, Calif. (Oct. 31, 2007) – Grade I winner Dancing Edie, scheduled to be sold the following day at auction, instead heads the field for Saturday’s $150,000 California Cup Distaff for fillies and mares at about 6 ˝ furlongs down the turf course at Oak Tree at Santa Anita.

Dancing Edie is by Moscow Ballet, out of the Slewpy mare Duchess of Ack, was bred by Fast Lane Farms and Donald Reiker, was foaled at Harris Farms and is owned by Basin, Fast Lane Farms and Reddam. She has four wins in 20 starts, earnings of $782,535 and is coming off a win in the Sept. 26 Ken Maddy.

Cathrine’s Hope is by In Excess, out of the Far Out East mare Cookin Vickie, was bred by owners Lewis and Donna Cenicola and Lawrence and Ann Jett and was foaled at Vessels Stallion Farm. She has four wins in 15 starts, earnings of $207,812 and is coming off a win in an Oct. 17 optional claimer. She was eighth in the Cal Cup Juvenile Fillies last year.

Chelcee’s Hope is by Bartok, out of the Saros mare Pachira, was bred by Gary Thompson, is owned by Gary and Melanie Thompson and was foaled at Vessels Stallion Farm. She has two wins in 13 starts, earnings of $108,142 and is coming off a fifth in the Aug. 25 Solana Beach.

Double Major is by Bertrando, out of the Storm Cat mare Common Hope, was bred by owners Marty and Pam Wygod and was foaled at River Edge Farm. She has three wins in eight starts, earnings of $142,619 and is coming off a fifth in the July 22 Fleet Treat Stakes.

Excessiveobsession is by In Excess, out of the Golden Act mare Letthemoondancerap, was bred by, foaled at and owned by Legacy Ranch. She has four wins in nine starts, earnings of $140,140 and is coming off a third in an Aug. 23 optional claimer.

Gentle Charmer is by Bertrando, out of the Great Charmer mare Triple Charm, was bred by Marty and Pam Wygod, was foaled at River Edge Farm and is owned by Curt and Lila Lanning. The $17,000 Barretts purchase has six wins in 28 starts, earnings of $254,313 and is coming off a seventh in the Oct. 6 Autumn Leaves. She was ninth in this race in 2005.

Kalookan Dancer is by Olympio, out of the Moscow Ballet mare Desert Ballet, was bred by Romulo and Asistio Stables, was foaled at Old English Rancho and is owned by Gramer, Jones, Pyle, et al. She has five wins in 13 starts, earnings of $234,455 and is coming off a win in the Sept. 14 Pio Pico.

Lady Gamer is by Game Plan, out of the Far North mare Mariah Reyna, was bred by owners Clark and Janine Hansen and was foaled at Abbott Ranch. She has four wins in 10 starts, earnings of $209,590 and is coming off a second in the Sept. 26 Ken Maddy.

Sophie’s Trophy is by Valid Wager, out of the Deputed Testamony mare No Trouble Tweenus, was bred by Marty and Pam Wygod, foaled at River Edge Farm and is owned by Budget Stable. The $62,000 Barretts purchase has three wins in 12 starts, earnings of $107,967 and is coming off a sixth in the Sept. 26 Ken Maddy.

Spenditallbaby is by Unusual Heat, out of the Dynaformer mare Andover the Money, was bred by Abrams/Roberts, Nakkashian, Johnson, et al and is owned by Fiorito, Johnson, Roberts, et al and was foaled at Old English Rancho. She has four wins in 19 starts, earnings of $324,730 and is coming off a sixth in the Harold C. Ramser Handicap.
