Grade I Winner Bilo Leads Sprint

ARCADIA, Calif. (Oct. 31, 2007) – Grade I winner Bilo comes off a four-month vacation to lead a field of nine in Saturday’s $150,000 California Cup Sprint at Oak Tree at Santa Anita.

Bilo is by Bertrando, out of the Devil’s Bag mare Raffle’s Bag, was bred by Ed Nehem and is owned by King Edward and was foaled at River Edge Farm. He has six wins in 14 starts, earnings of $434,036 and is making his first start since winning the July 7 Triple Bend Handicap.

Bonfante is by Fruition, out of the Mountain Cat mare Tahoma Cat, was bred by owners Tenbrink and Frankfurt Stables and was foaled at Creston Farms. He has 10 wins in 26 starts, earnings of $495,711 and is coming off a sixth in the Aug. 15 Green Flash. He was third in this race last year and seventh in 2004.

Excess Temptations is by In Excess, out of the Storm Cat mare Sea Tempest, was bred by and foaled at Harris Farms and is owned by Harris Farms, Dodgers pitcher Brad Penny, El Rey Racing, et al. he has three wins in eight starts, earnings of $133,412 and is coming off a second in an Aug. 8 optional claimer.

Wind Water is by Bold Badgett, out of the French Deputy mare Feng Shui, was bred by S L U Inc. was foaled at Old English Rancho and is owned by Adam Lewis. He has 13 wins in 38 starts, earnings of $536,851 and is coming off a win in the Bay Meadows Speed Handicap Oct. 20. He won the Cal Cup Starter Sprint last year.

Bro Lo is by In Excess, out of the Sir Harry Lewis mare Farr Bettor Miss, was bred by owners David and Billie Farr and was foaled at Abbott Ranch. He has three wins in nine starts, earnings of $191,680 and is coming off a fifth in an Oct. 5 allowance.

Mr. Ching is by Distant View, out of the Sagace mare Toast of Paris, was bred by Horst Ritter and is owned by Upper Group. He has three wins in 20 starts, earnings of $180,946 and is coming off a fifth in an Oct. 20 allowance.

Dakota Padre is by Game Plan, out of the His Majesty mare Lisbona, was bred by Royal match Stud and Rustling Oaks Ranch, was foaled at Rancho San Miguel and is owned by Curt and Lila Lanning. The $27,000 Barretts purchase has two wins in 10 starts, earnings of $74,960 and is coming off a win in a Sept. 15 optional claimer.

Areyoutalkintome is by Smokester, out of the Storm Bird mare Andrea Gail, was bred by John Toffan and Trudy McCaffery, foaled at Cardiff Stud Farm and is owned by Sam Rivinius. The $10,000 Barretts purchase has 10 wins in 50 starts, earnings of $976,417 and is coming off a fourth in the Sept. 23 Premier Breeders’ Cup Handicap. He won this race in 2004 and was second in 2005

Johnny Eves is by Skimming, out of the Capote mare Capote’s Halo, was bred and is owned by Mooncoin LLC and was foaled at Ridgeley Farms. He has three wins in seven starts, earnings of $124,020 and is coming off a Sept. 26 allowance win.
