$150,000 TOC/CTT Cal Cup Matron
SOMETHINABOUTLAURA

ARCADIA, Calif. (Oct. 28, 2006) – Odds-on favorite Somethinaboutlaura swung to the outside around the far turn and exploded to run off with Saturday’s $150,000 TOC/CTT California Cup Matron at Oak Tree at Santa Anita.

Somethinaboutlaura is a Grade II winner by Dance Floor, out of the It’s Freezing mare Crystals of Ice, was bred by Lilley Ranch and is owned by Miller, Sikura, Todaro et al.

She has nine wins in 18 starts and earnings of $501,985, winning at the distance of 1 1/16 miles and at Santa Anita for the first time in her career. The Matron was her fourth stakes win this year.

Clocked in 1:43.31 for the distance, she scored at odds of 2-5 by five lengths ahead of Getback Time, with pacesetter Yearly Attitude finishing third. Getback Time was disqualified by stewards for an incident around the first turn and placed last, which moved Yearly Attitude up to second and Bardy Woman to third.

Jerry Hollendorfer trained and Victor Espinoza rode Somethinaboutlaura, who finished fourth in this race last year.

“She got blocked a little, but when we got out, that was it,” Espinoza said.
