ARCADIA, Calif. (Oct. 28, 2006) – Odds-on favorite Phar to Win led the field the entire distance and ran his win streak to four while taking Saturday’s XTRA Sports 570 AM California Cup Starter Handicap at Oak Tree at Santa Anita.

Phar to Win is a 4-year-old gelding by Avenue of Flags, out of the Night Shift mare Doucette, was bred by C-Punch Ranch and is owned by Betty or Robert Irvin. He has five career starts and has won four consecutive races since an 18-month layoff that followed a third-place debut. His career earnings are $100,090.

Phar to Win, the 3-5 favorite, ran the 1 ½ miles on turf in a stakes-record 2:25.76 and won by three-quarters of a length over Dadsalittleunusual, with Mr. Chairman third. Phar to Win was trained by Thomas Bell and ridden by Jon Court.
