Areyoutalkintome Seeks Another Sprint

ARCADIA, Calif. (Oct. 25, 2006) – With Bordonaro and Jet West out of the picture, Areyoutalkintome is the likely favorite in Saturday’s $150,000 Dodge/Donald Valpredo California Cup Sprint at Oak Tree at Santa Anita.

Areyoutalkintome is by Smokester, out of the Storm Boot mare Andrea Gail, was bred by John Toffan and Trudy McCaffery and is owned by Manzani or Sarno. The $10,000 Barretts purchase has nine wins in 38 starts, earnings of $845,955 and is coming off a second in the Oct. 7 Phoenix Breeders’ Cup. He is skipping the Breeders’ Cup Sprint for this, having won the race in 2004 and placed second last year.

Buck Tuddy Buck is by Wild Gold, out of the Stay the Course mare New York Rainbow, was bred by Adena Springs and is owned by Romano and Ward. He has three wins in 17 starts, earnings of $96,395 and is coming off a fourth in the Oct.7 Fort Mason.

Bonfante is by Fruition, out of the Mountain Cat mare Tahoma Cat and was bred by owners Tenbrink and Frankfurt. He has eight wins in 20 starts, earnings of $337,457 and is coming off a win in the Oct.7 Fort Mason. He was seventh in this race in 2004.

Bro Lo is by In Excess, out of the Sir Harry Lewis mare Farr Bettor Miss and was bred by owners David and Billie Farr. He has two wins in five starts, earnings of $111,072 and is coming off a fourth in n Oct. 6 optional claimer.

Old Man River is by Event of the Year, out of the Flying Paster mare Brilliant Sunshine, was bred by Betty Mabee and is owned by Golden Eagle Farm. He has three wins in eight starts, earnings of $131,835 and is coming off a fourth in the Sept. 6 Pirate’s Bounty.

Debonair Joe is by Ole, out of the Debonair Roger mare Malita, was bred by Craig Lewis and Mira Loma Thoroughbred Farm and is owned by Lantz or Moran or Sobel. The Grade I winner has eight wins in 40 starts, earnings of $472,645 and is coming off a second in a Sept. 30 $50,000 claimer. He was fourth in the 2001 Cal Cup Juvenile.

Slew’s Prince is by Slew’s Royalty, out of the Stalwart mare Stalwart Princess, was bred by Jerry Irwin and is owned by Benjamin Warren. He has five wins in 32 starts, earnings of $308,929 and is coming off a third in the Oct. 7 Fort Mason.

Da Stoops is by Distorted Humor, out of the Kingdom of Spain mare Glamorous Lady, was bred by Malibu Valley Farms and is owned by Watson or Weitman Performance. The Del Mar Yearling Sale graduate has four wins in 14 starts, earnings of $535,906 and is coming off a third in the Sept. 2 El Cajon.
