Four Checker Tries Another Starter

ARCADIA, Calif. (Nov. 3, 2005) – Four Checker, runner-up in last year’s California Cup Starter Sprint Handicap, is the high weight in Sunday’s $50,000 XTRA 690/FOX 1150 California Cup Starter Handicap at Oak Tree at Santa Anita.

Four Checker is by Bonus Money, out of the Louisiana Slew mare Tiny Boots, was bred by Ron Gomez and is owned by Paul Haggar. He has seven wins in 55 starts, earnings of $255,943 and is coming off a seventh in an Aug. 31 $62,500 claimer. He was second in last year’s Cal Cup Starter Sprint.

Sultry Bard is by Sultry Song, out of the Theatrical mare A La Lucy, was bred by William Currin and is owned by Victor Rodas III. He is a maiden making his 10th start.

It’s Quite Unusual is by Unusual Heat, out of the Silent Screen mare Dalal, was bred by Old English Rancho and is owned by E.W. and Judy Johnston. He has two wins in 13 starts, earnings of $72,560 and is coming off an eighth in an Oct. 10 $40,000 claimer.

Lil Mitch is by Lil Tyler, out of the Nijinsky’s Secret mare Asta Pasta, was bred by Jack Weinstein and is owned by MRM Stables. He has one win in six starts, earnings of $38,120 and is coming off a fifth in an Oct. 8 allowance.

Attribution is by Cee’s Tizzy, out of the Flying Paster mare Avion, was bred by Old English Rancho and is owned by E.W. and Judy Johnston. He has one win in seven starts, earnings of $14,400 and is coming off a seventh in an Oct. 18 starter’s allowance.

Walter Ringer is by Walter Willy, out of the Chimes Band mare Belle Ringer and was bred by Tricar Stables. He has one win in 24 starts, earnings of $66,882 and is coming off a third in an Oct. 20 starter’s allowance.

Top This and That is by Old Topper, out of the Theatrical mare Emmy Ann, was bred by Tommy Town Thoroughbreds and is owned by Hayes, Hayes, Higman, et al. He has three wins in 13 starts, earnings of 126,940 and is coming off a second in an Oct. 8 allowance.

Time to Honor is by Honor Grades, out of the Just the time mare Timely View, was bred by David and Marlon Christensen and is owned by Beardsworth or Decauwer or Lurie. He has one win in five starts, earnings of $29,720 and is coming off a fourth in an Oct. 27 allowance.

Jasjonjake is by High Brite, out of the Desert Wine mare Julies Desert Star, was bred by Stephen Young and is owned by Donn or Young. He has one win in five starts, earnings of $16,340 and is coming off a third in an Oct. 10 starter’s allowance.

Golden Bonus is by Bonus Money, out of the Gold Crest mare Golden Notion, was bred by Ron Gomez and is owned by Fritz & Winters. He has seven wins in 59 starts, earnings of $267,442 and is coming off a third in an Oct. 16 starter’s allowance. He was seventh in this race in 2003.
