Dream of Summer Looks for a Million
ARCADIA, Calif. (Nov. 3, 2005) –
Grade I winner and defending champion Dream of Summer would become the
latest California-bred millionaire if she can turn back seven rivals in
Sunday’s $150,000 CTT/TOC California Cup Matron at Oak Tree at Santa
Anita.
Dream of Summer is by Siberian
Summer, out of the Skywalker mare Mary’s Dream and was bred by owner James
Weigel. She has nine wins in 16 starts, earnings of $951,150 and is coming
off a sixth in the Oct. 1 Grade I Beldame. She won this race by a nose
last year over Yearly Report.
Bartok’s Blithe is by Bartok, out
of the Roanoke mare Merry Krisoke, was bred by Morry Cohen and is owned by
Rancho San Miguel. She has three wins in 29 starts, earnings of $389,656
and is coming off an eighth in the Oct. 8 Autumn Leaves Handicap. She was
sixth in this race last year and third in 2003.
Somethinaboutlaura is by Dance
Floor, out of the It’s Freezing mare Crystals of Ice, was bred by Lilley
Ranch and is owned by Turf Express, Beck & Mastrochque. She has five wins
in seven starts, earnings of $106,580 and is coming off a win in the Sept.
17 Palo Alto.
Show Me Your Glory is by Alphabet
Soup, out of the Unbridled mare Fasahah and was bred by owner Tommy Town
Thoroughbreds. She has three wins in 15 starts, earnings of $113,480 and
is coming off a fifth in a Sept. 25 optional claimer.
Proposed is by Benchmark, out of
the Bertrando mare Quiet Romance and was bred by owners Marty and Pam
Wygod. She has three wins in six starts, earnings of $130,980 and is
coming off a 4 ˝-length win in an Oct. 6 optional claimer.
Royal Kleven is by Kleven, out of
the Regal and Royal mare Royal Verbatim, was bred by Fred Watarida and is
owned by Donna Elordi. Claimed for $20,000 earlier in the year, she has
six wins in 14 starts, earnings of $181,795 and has won three of her last
four starts.
I Can Yodele is by Swiss Yodeler,
out of the Apollo mare Dancingattheapollo, was bred by Peter Busch and is
owned by Heinz Steinmann. The $20,000 Barretts purchase has three wins in
11 starts, earnings of $106,595 and is coming off a sixth in the Sept. 19
CTBA Marian Stakes.
House of Fortune is by Free House,
out of the Garthorn mare So Fortunate, was bred by John Treasure and is
owned by Arnold Zether. The Del Mar Yearling Sale and Barretts graduate
has six wins in 19 starts, earnings of $622,885 and is coming off a second
in the Oct. 7 Swingtime Handicap. She won the Cal Cup Juvenile Fillies in
2003.
