Scramble in Juvenile
ARCADIA, Calif. (Nov. 3, 2005) –
Multiple stakes winner Direct Connect and impressive debut winner
Catouttathebag are among the entries in Sunday’s $125,000 Bob Benoit
California Cup Juvenile at Oak Tree at Santa Anita.
Direct Connect is by General
Meeting, out of the Bonus Money mare Mama Mama, was bred by Greg Norman
and is owned by Omar Aldabbaugh. In three starts, he’s won the Cavonnier
and Barretts Juvenile and $121,860 in earnings.
Catouttathebag is by Forest
Wildcat, out of the Friendly Lover mare Secret Lover and was bred by
owners Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Shapiro. He won his only race Oct. 10 by seven
lengths.
Stephen Bruce is by Event of the
Year, out of the Private Account mare Ms. Margi, was bred by Homan Hadawi
and is owned by Stephen Weissman. He is a maiden making his third start.
Tranquilo is by Larry the Legend,
out of the What a Spell mare Mellow Miss and was bred by owners Englekirk,
Lewis and Mira Loma Thoroughbred Farm. He won his third start Oct. 20, a
$40,000 maiden claimer.
Brite Maneuvers is by High Brite,
out of the Brocco mare Broccozola, was bred by Curtis Jones and is owned
by Howard Roberts Farm. He has two wins in eight starts, earnings of
$44,100 and is coming off two wins by a total of 10 lengths.
Del Mar Yearling Sale graduate
Irish Bar is by Bartok, out of the Roanoke mare Merry Krisoke, was bred by
5C Racing and is owned by Higman, Higman & Smith. In four starts, the
$40,000 Barretts purchase has two wins, including the Gateway to Glory
Stakes and has $75,900 in earnings
Moonlite Romance is by Game Plan,
out of the Knight in Savannah mare Candles n Moonlite, was bred by Royal
Match Stud and is owned by Curt and Lila Lanning. He has two wins in six
starts, earnings of $77,130 and is coming off a second in the Oct. 9
Cavonnier.
Western Sovereign is by Western
Fame, out of the Mister Jolie mare Starlet Angelina, was bred by Jeff
Bonde and Gary Piper and is owned by Curt and Lila Lanning. He has four
wins in six starts, earnings of $83,740 and is coming off a win in the
Oct. 13 Harvest Festival Futurity.
Del Mar Yearling Sale graduate Hugh
O’Neill is by Benchmark, out of the Bertrando mare Majestic Splendor, was
bred by Marty and Pam Wygod. He is a maiden making his third start.
At a Boy Russ is by Nineeleven, out
of the Gnome’s Gold mare Quite a Gem, was bred by Terry Lovingier and is
owned by Costello, London, Raffel, et al. he won his debut and was third
in the Cavonnier and Beau Brummel.
