Moscow Burning Going the Distance

ARCADIA, Calif. (Nov. 3, 2005) – Moscow Burning, winner of the race two years ago, is high weight for Sunday’s $100,000 TVG California Cup Distance Handicap for fillies and mares at Oak Tree at Santa Anita.

Moscow Burning is by Moscow Ballet, out of the Mr. Leader mare Burning Desire, was bred by Harris Farms and is owned by Bullseye Racing. The Grade II winner has eight wins in 22 starts, earnings of $836,535 and is making her first start since finishing fifth in the Apr. 17 Santa Barbara Handicap.

Jewel of the Year is by Event of the Year, out of the Nureyev mare Cultured Pearls, was bred by John and Betty Mabee and is owned by Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Fishelberg. The $22,000 Barretts purchase has three wins in 13 starts, earnings of $146,440 and is coming off a fifth Oct. 16 in which she was claimed for $50,000.

Del Mar Ticket is by Bertrando, out of the Deputy Minister mare Good Secretary, was bred by Woodside Farms & Liberty Stables and is owned by Naify & Woodside Farms. She has two wins in 10 starts, earnings of $121,516 and is coming off a second in an Oct. 2 allowance.

Candy Factory is by Seattle Bound, out of the Vigors mare Chocolate and was bred by owner Dahlberg Farms. She has four wins in eight starts, earnings of $181,720 and is coming off an eighth in the Swingtime Handicap, having earlier won the Solana Beach Handicap.

Fortunate Event is by Event of the Year, out of the Wild Again mare Fortunee, was bred by The Thoroughbred Corp. and is owned by Dan Agnew. The $45,000 Barretts purchase has two wins in 13 starts, earnings of $123,134 and is coming off a second in the Sept. 19 CTBA Marian Stakes.

Dancing General is by General Meeting, out of the Nureyev mare Dance with Shadows, was bred by Mrs. John Mabee and is owned by Stan Fulton. She has won two of her four starts, was nosed out in the two losses and has earnings of $89,880.
