Valentine Dancer Tries Hill in Distaff

ARCADIA, Calif. (Nov. 3, 2005) – Millionaire Valentine Dancer makes her debut down the hill in Sunday’s $150,000 John Deere California Cup Distaff for fillies and mares at 6 ˝ furlongs on the hillside turf course at Oak Tree at Santa Anita.

Valentine Dancer is by In Excess, out of the Mr. Prospector mare Gilded Dancer and was bred by owners Al and Sandee Kirkwood. She has eight wins in 27 starts, earnings of $1,144,126 and is coming off a fifth in the Grade II Lady’s Secret Breeders’ Cup Handicap.

Crowded Room is by Smokester, out of the Political Ambition mare Work the Room, was bred by Harris Farms and Maddy Trust and is owned by Harris Farms. She has four wins in 12 starts, earnings of $169,929 and is coming off a third in the Sept. 26 Bangles and Beads.

Western Hemisphere is by General Meeting, out of the Smarten mare Excellent Lady, was bred by John and Betty Mabee and is owned by Golden Eagle Farm. She has three wins in nine starts, earnings of $274,465 and is making her first start since losing this race by a nose to Our Mango one year ago.

Tempting Date is by Perfect Mandate, out of the Something Lucky mare Contemptible, was bred by Old English Rancho and is owned by Turf Express. She has three wins and a second in four starts, earnings of $109,680 and is coming off an Oct. 14 allowance win.

Tialinga is by Cee’s Tizzy, out of the Caveat mare Tuck, was bred by Barclay Thoroughbreds and Stanley Mak and is owned by Beardsworth or Decauwer or Lurie. She has five wins in 23 starts, earnings of $183,015 and is coming off a win in the Sept. 26 Bangles and Beads.

Kresgeville is by Bertrando, out of the Never Tabled mare Seed Case, was bred by Marty and Pam Wygod and is owned by Sandra Hall Trust. She has four wins in seven starts, earnings of $97,340 and is coming off a third in the Awateke Express Handicap, having earlier won the Manhattan Beach Handicap at Del Mar.

Mini Skirt is by Wild Again, out of the Summer Time Guy mare Summer Dress, was bred by The Hat Ranch West and is owned by The Hat Ranch. She has four wins in 16 starts, earnings of $188,424 and is coming off a second in the Sept. 23 Las Madrinas.

Resident Alien is by Bertrando, out of the Bel Bolide mare Witchy, was bred by Arnold Family Trust and is owned by Robert Bone. She has three wins in five starts, earnings of $66,240 and is coming off a six-length win in an Oct. 16 optional claimer. She was claimed in August for $40,000.

Allswellthatnswell is by Perfect Mandate, out of the Something Lucky mare A Lucky Heppening, was bred by Old English Rancho and is owned by E.W. and Judy Johnston. She has two wins in 13 starts, earnings of $119,026 and is coming off a seventh in the Sept. 23 Las Madrinas Handicap. One of her wins was the Stanford Stakes last year.

Early Ronan is by Score Early, out of the Fiddle Dancer Boy mare Filronan and was bred by owner Bill Thomas. She has two wins in eight starts, earnings of $41,320 and is coming off a fourth in an Oct. 13 $80,000 claimer.

Beneficial Bartok is by Bartok, out of the Mill Native mare Manila Merci, was bred by Morry Cohen and is owned by 5C Racing. She has four wins in 22 starts, earnings of $219,481 and is coming off a fifth in the Oct. 7 Swingtime Handicap.

Gentle Charmer is by Bertrando, out of the Great Charmer mare Triple Charm, was bred by Marty and Pam Wygod and is owned by Curt and Lila Lanning. The $17,000 Barretts purchase has two wins in 12 starts, earnings of $70,985 and is coming off a third in a Sept. 30 allowance.

Gn. Group Meeting is by General Meeting, out of the Nashwan mare Gather the Group and was bred by owners Mr. and Mrs. Larry Williams. She has three wins in eight starts, earnings of $130,410 and is coming off a win in the Sept. 19 CTBA Marian Stakes.

Etch is by Pioneering, out of the Robin des Pins mare Zia Elena, was bred by Tommy Town Thoroughbreds and is owned by Ed and Sharon Hudon. The $20,000 Barretts purchase has two wins in eight starts, earnings of $104,828 and is coming off a four-length win in a Sept. 30 allowance.
