TVG $100,000 Cal Cup Distance Preview

ARCADIA, Calif. (Oct. 24, 2005) -- Moscow Burning (Moscow Ballet-Burning Desire, by Mr. Leader) returns to the California Cup after running fourth in last year’s Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Turf at Lone Star Park.

The 5-year-old is closing in on millionaire status, a plateau already reached by Valentine Dancer (In Excess-Gilded Dancer, by Mr. Prospector), who also is a possibility to start in the Matron.
So is House of Fortune (Free House-So Fortunate, by Garthorn), who won the Cal Cup Juvenile Fillies in 2003 and the Hollywood Oaks as a 3-year-old in 2004.

Scrofa (Unusual Heat-Maestra Mia, by Flying Victor), who won the Irish O’Brien at the last Santa Anita winter meet, has been nominated to both the Distance and the Distaff.

A likely starter in the Distance is Candy Factory (Seattle Bound-D. J.’s Chocolate, by Vigors), who won the Solana Beach Handicap at Del Mar in August.
