Cal Cup Stable Notes

ARCADIA, Calif. (Oct. 23, 2005) -- Toby Turrell, who produces the popular tip sheet, "Winners Card," could have three horses running in California Cup XVI on Nov. 6: Jill's Sky in the Distance Handicap, The Yellow Sheet (named for his distinctive "Winners Card,") in the Distaff and Gary's Got Rhythm in the Juvenile.

"We'll take it day-by-day," Turrell said. "As long as Jill's Sky trains well we're going to consider it. The Yellow Sheet's been set for months to run in the race. She worked today in 1:12:60, she's healthy, dappled out and ready to go.

"I've got a 2-year-old colt, their brother, Gary's Got Rhythm, who's real leggy, gallops a real strong two miles and been ready to run for three weeks. It's not out of the question that I could have three starters, two sisters and the brother."

Asked if he was making more money racing horses or selling "the yellow sheet," Turrell said, "I'll let you know in three weeks."

In other Cal Cup news, Slide Home, a candidate for the $125,000 California Cup Sprint, worked four furlongs at Hollywood Park Saturday in :50.20.

"He ran a real big race at Del Mar," said trainer Wesley Ward of Slide Home, who is owned in part by Academy Award-winning actor Joe Pesci.
