Cal Cup Stable Notes
ARCADIA, Calif. (Oct. 19, 2005) –
Trainer Jim Cassidy said Wednesday that Moscow Burning is pointing to the
$100,000 California Cup Distance Handicap at 1 1/4 miles on turf, a race
she won in 2003.
"She had some back issues," the
trainer said. "That's why I had to stop on her. She hurt her back pretty
bad and we did some nuclear scans on her. She tore some vertebrae, we gave
her some time off and we brought her back. It's been a long struggle to
get her there but if her last work was any indication, she's back."
Kent Desormeaux, who has been
working Moscow Burning, rides her in the Cal Cup.
Trainer David Bernstein said Unfurl
The Flag is scheduled to work five furlongs Saturday for the $150,000
California Cup Sprint on Nov. 6. Corey Nakatani has the mount in the
six-furlong race.
