Noble Kinsman Seeks Second Cal Cup Starter Handicap

ARCADIA, Calif. (Oct. 13, 2004) – Noble Kinsman, winner of the race two years ago, meets the filly First Draft in Saturday’s $50,000 XTRA 690/1150 California Cup Starter Handicap at Oak Tree at Santa Anita.

Gobi Dan is by Huckster, out of the Silent Fox mare Jellicent, was bred by Carl and Olivia Cannata and is owned by Dandy Lion Racing. Winner of the California Sires Stakes in 2002, he has four wins and $257,810 in earnings.

Tiz a Coup is by Cee’s Tizzy, out of the Hoedown’s Day mare Big Squaw, was bred by C-Punch Ranch and is owned by Robert and Betty Irvin. His last win was 19 months ago through disqualification.

Fly and Eagle is by Unusual Heat, out of the Bel Bolide mare Sweet Character, was bred by Miraleste Inc. and is owned by Madeline Auerbach. The $7,500 Barretts purchase has three wins in 41 starts, but two of them are in his last two races.

Ms Mintons Excess is by In Excess, out of the Pleasant Colony mare Miss Minton, was bred by owner Vessels Stallion Farm. He has finished first or second in his last six starts.

Deputy Gold is by Defrere, out of the Slew o’Gold mare Special Gold, was bred by owner Nick Corini. He broke his maiden in his seventh start Sept. 6.

Ring of Friendship is by General Meeting, out of the Seeking the Gold mare Thee and Me, was bred by John and Betty Mabee and is owned by Nico Nierenberg. He has two wins in 10 starts.

Overkill is by Bertrando, out of the Green Dancer mare Sceptre’s Own, and was bred by owner Charlotte Wrather. He has won two of his last four starts.

Noble Kinsman is by Walter Willy, out of the Chief’s Crown mare Lady Snerd, and was bred by owner Ron Gomez. He won this race in 2002 and has $178,745 in earnings, along with wins in two of his last three starts.

First Draft is a filly by Othello, out of the Cajun Prince mare Beseya, was bred by Dion Recachina and is owned by Brett and Sample. She was seventh in the 2002 Cal Cup Distaff and has wins in her last two starts to go with $192,945 in earnings.

Blushing Ciel is by Le Ciel, out of the In the Swing mare Keyhole Blush, was bred by Haras El Palenque and is owned by Anderson and Burnett. He has four wins in 40 starts and $100,040 in earnings.
